MidSun High Voltage Insulation E/Fusing Tape

Self-fusing silicone tape which when applied to any connector, bus or cable, forms a void-free electrical insulation protection system E/FUSING TAPE™ is a self-fusing silicone rubber that functions as a Class "H" insulation material. The tape, when wrapped on itself, creates a uniform, inseparable cohesive thickness. Flexible cable, bus and connector insulation is easily applied with essential 2/3's overlap on the tape. T&D equipment can be taped to form a void-free system of electrical protection which is durable under extreme conditions and is offered only by a silicone material such as E/FusingTape.
E/FUSING TAPE™'s self-bonding properties make application a snap, and offers the following: 15kV phase-to-ground insulation when applied in a 2/3 overlap within 10% stretch, 30kV or more phase-to-ground insulation can be achieved by a subsequent application.
Less voltage strength can be achieved by varying the overlap width. E/FUSING TAPE™ also can be covered in a void-free manner. Having a void-free insulated surface is key to long-term avoidance of animal caused outages. It is important to use 2/3" overlap and not stretch beyond 10%.

The use of E/FUSING TAPE™ instead of vinyl or heat shrink tapes will allow the utility to have one product that can insulate against animal outages to house services.

E/FUSING TAPE™ Unwrap 300mm to 400mm section of tape, cut tape and remove clear backing. Hold tape firmly down against object being wrapped and begin to wrap object. While wrapping stretch tape to about 10% and use a 2/3 overlap. Over certain square pieces it is best to lay strips of tape overtop crisscrossed with a 2/3 overlap and 25mm overhang then begin wrapping around the sides. When tape is being applied prevent any air pockets from developing by firmly pushing down on tape. Stretching tape over 10% will effect the tapes dielectric properties. Dust and dirt on hands will prevent tape adhesion to itself. (Over nuts and bolts an E/NEMA pad is recommended.
